Client

The client is Embedded Fitness, who are making an interactive Smart Wall. This Smart Wall will be used in elementary school during gym class. The client wants to combine gym class with teaching material so children will have fun while learning and moving/exercising using the Smart Wall.

Description

The game is played by two teams competing against each other in destroying a tower using math. Each team has a ball which they can use in their turn to throw at the bricks of the tower on the screen.

To win the game, a team has to hit bricks with numbers and math operations on the screen to create a equation and reach a specific number. Both teams have access to the same number bricks and math operation bricks. When a number brick is hit, the number on it disappears and a new number appears somewhere on the tower. By hitting the right math operations and numbers for your sum or to remove the numbers for the opponents a team can win the game.

Team

Castle Attack is made by team Stacle. The members of team Stacle include:

Sander Boelaars

Sven Janssen

Jowelle Klomp

Jorin Tielen

Bram de Wit

Jurian van Woerkom

Features

  • Learn math by playing a game!
  • Have fun while moving!
  • Fun for groups of children!
  • Easily extensible with other curriculum!

Platform

The game runs on windows, but is built to be played using a Smart Wall (A Kinect and a beamer). The Kinect detects input on this wall (by checking if something is in front of it).

HowToPlay

The game is played by throwing a ball at specific targets on the Smart Wall. If a team has hit a number brick then they can only hit operation bricks the turn after that, the other bricks will be disabled. The same thing goes for operation bricks. Teams can also “steal” numbers from each other, if a team sees the other teams needs a specific number to win, then they can choose to hit this number themselves to remove this number from the screen, this will add the number to their sum however.
