Client description

FutureBites is a company that hosts an annual even called the ‘Night of the Nerds’, where a large amount of teenage school students visit and they get to see a great amount of projects all with the objective to inspire them and amaze them with technological prowess. This year, the event took place in several locations in Eindhoven Strijp-S, and it is the first instance of the event to take place on location since 2020.

Description of the Assignment

Both due to the issue of global warming and the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, gas prices have skyrocketed and saving on resources becomes all the more of a must-do. One of the biggest issues in this lies in how frequently and at how high temperatures young people shower. It costs a lot of energy and water for a single teenager to shower once. and has severe consequences for the enviroment

Our client, Jacqueline Pijcke, gave us the assignment to motivate teens – who are said to be the group of people who shower the longest – to shower shorter, and at colder temperatures. The game should be a mobile game, and be playable primarily on Android phones.

Game Description:

Comparable to games like WarioWare and Dumb Ways To Die, players must complete a collection of short minigames and get as high of a score as possible. All of these minigames are a bit of a spin on basic bathroom activities, and players get to see different interesting facts about.

The six minigames include balancing on a soap bar, picking up rubber duckies, blowing bubbles, shower rush where you have to platform over and under objects, showertime where you have to get out of the shower in the right moment and showerpipes where you have to click on the piper to make them turn in the right direction. All of these involve using your phone in a different way. For example, the ‘blowing bubbles’ minigame requires the use of the phone’s microphone.

The player is awarded points for completing a minigame, more points can be won by completing them faster. As the player moves on from minigame to minigame, the difficulty will continuously scale up, making the minigames have less time, have faster moving objects, etc. Eventually the goal is for the player to keep going for as long as they can before running out of water.
