Client Description:

ActiveFloor is a Danish based company that believes that learning should be a combination of fun and movement. With this in mind they came up with the ActiveFloor-concept, a one-of-a-kind experience that combines a kinect sensor with a beamer. ActiveFloor devices come with preinstalled games that are all educational in nature, while also enabling their players to move around actively.

Description of the Assignment

We were tasked by our client to come up with a new game for the ActiveFloor device. There are a lot of games on the ActiveFloor device, however majority of them are competitive in nature. While a great deal of them have a “co-op” tag on them, in reality the game is competitive. Our client wanted to see if we could create a game that would have cooperative elements while also retaining the educational aspects. We had creative freedom to choose which target demographic we wanted, and we decided to aim for older kids (ages 9-12).

Game Description:

In our game you play as a team of 2 detectives that are currently investigating the disappearance of an infamous scientist, Jan Smit. Upon entering his laboratory the door shuts behind the detectives and a timer starts counting down. The detectives must utilize their brains and team work to find the keys needed to open the door, before it’s too late.
