Client Description:

The Effenaar is a music venue in the centre of Eindhoven. It was squatted in 1971 and has grown into one of the largest pop venues in the country, hosting rock, pop and techno events. They also organize city wide events like Hit the City.

Description of the Assignment

Our product owner was very clear in the fact that we were free to experiment. Though they recommended that the best way to make a hybrid venue fun is to work on the connection between the people at home and the people at the venue, so with that in mind we designed this project.

Game Description:

The Hybrid Venue project was created with Unity in C#. The focus in this project is on developing prototypes within a virtual venue. The intention is that a player can play the game via his or her own computer and connect with other players online. A stream to this game is supposed to be displayed on screens in the Effenaar. Our game then allows the people at the real people to see the virtual people in the virtual venue (screenshot 2), and vice versa (screenshot 1). You will also be able to do various activities in the virtual venue like playing with beachballs, watching the concert, and drinking beer.
