Client Description:

Enversed VR is a game design company situated in Eindhoven Strijp-S. Enversed consists of two parts: a game studio and an entertainment center. The entertainment center is a place where people can come to play VR games using state of the art equipment, usually in groups. The game studio creates games that can be played in the entertainment center.

Description of the Assignment

The given assignment goes as follows: We invite you to develop an engaging and accessible free-roam VR experience for our VR center, leveraging the expansive physical space available and advanced VR technology.

So the goal of this assignment was to use the free roam area (approx: 30m x 24m) at Enversed VR to create a short 5-10 minute VR game fully utilizing the physical space available to us.

Game Description:

You and 5 other people break into a dockyard. In this dockyard you can find crates filled with valuables for you to steal. But beware, there are cameras and roombas all around that want to catch you! Steal as much as you can without getting caught before the van leaves in 6 minutes in order to achieve the ultimate high score!

How To Play:

Use the grip button on your VR controller to interact with items and tools, use the joysticks to teleport around the environment. Use crowbars and screwdrivers to open crates and other obstacles and gather loot and bring it back to the van to collect it, but watch out for the roombas and cameras because they’ll take the loot from you. Progress to the next stage and collect keycards to gather even more valuable loot!

Important:

To play this game as intended, you need a VR headset and a stable internet connection. We tested this game on an Oculus Quest 2 and 3.

Steps:

  • Install the executable from the itch.io page
  • Connect your VR headset to your PC
  • Launch the executable
    • If you want to play with multiple people at the same time, make sure to all launch the game at the same time. There is no lobby or start button, so the first person to join immediatlely starts the game. Players can join later.
